Terms
Updated 9 October 2026
These terms cover the TraceVoy iPhone app and this website. They are short on purpose.
Using TraceVoy
TraceVoy is for making films and posters of trips from your own photos. When you get it from the App Store, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement applies, and these terms add to it.
Your photos and films
Your photos stay yours, and so do the films and posters you make. TraceVoy claims no rights in them and never sees them. You are responsible for having the right to use the photos you put in a film, and for what you share.
Map credits
Every film and poster carries a credit line for the map and terrain data, such as © OpenStreetMap contributors. The data licences require it, so it cannot be switched off. Please keep it visible when you share or edit a film. The full notices are on the Licenses page.
Routes and places
TraceVoy rebuilds a trip from photo times and places. Routes are reconstructions along the map's roads, paths and railways, not a record of where you actually went, and a dashed line is an estimate. Place names and the way of travel are best guesses you can change. Do not use TraceVoy for navigation or anything safety related.
Map services
Maps and terrain come from free public services run by others (OpenFreeMap and Mapterhorn). They offer no guarantee of availability. If they cannot be reached, parts of the map may be missing until they can, or until the area is in the iPhone's saved tiles.
No warranty
TraceVoy and this website are provided as is, without warranty of any kind, and to the extent the law allows we are not liable for any loss arising from their use. Nothing here limits rights you have under the law where you live.
Changes
If these terms change, the new version is posted on this page with a new date.
