Why is part of my route dashed?

TraceVoy traces every leg on the iPhone along the roads, paths and railways in the OpenStreetMap map data. When it cannot find a sensible way, for example where the map has no road or line for that leg, or the only way it finds is far longer than the straight line, it draws the leg dashed: an estimate, not a route. Flights are not routed; they are drawn as arcs.

To fix a dashed leg, check its way of travel, or route it through a place it passed (below). How routes are made is described on the Licenses page.

How do I change the way of travel?

In the editor, open Places. Under each place is the leg to the next one, with its way of travel (Walk, Train and so on). Tap it and pick another: walk, car, bus, train, subway, ferry, flight or cable car. The leg is traced again. Use detected goes back to TraceVoy's own guess.

The same menu has Route through a place, for a leg that should pass somewhere on the way.

How do I pick the photos a stop shows?

In Places, tap the photo count beside a stop, or touch and hold the stop and choose Choose photos. TraceVoy has already picked some; tap photos to choose your own. Touch and hold a photo to use it as the cover.

Can I rename, merge or move places?

Touch and hold a place for Rename, Merge with next, Move earlier or Move later, and Leave out of film. Add a place, at the end of the list, finds a town or area by name. Undo and redo are at the top of the editor.

What happens if I leave the app while exporting?

The film pauses. Come back to TraceVoy and it carries on where it stopped. Keeping TraceVoy open is the quickest way to finish.

How do I clear map data?

Open Settings (the gear on the home screen), then Map data → Clear saved tiles. The space the saved tiles use is shown just above. Tiles are downloaded again when a film needs them.

What do I need?

An iPhone with iOS 26, and photos that have their time and place. Title ideas from Apple's on-device model also need Apple Intelligence turned on. TraceVoy is coming soon to the App Store.
